There is a relationship between the troublesome parts of my personality and fear. When I am engaging in character defects or shortcomings it is rooted in fear. When I am grateful there is no fear, when I am connected to others in service there is no fear, and when I am connected to the Peace within there is no fear. The manifestations of self are driven by fear and insecurity. When I am stuck in control or self pity and I am able to step back and be honest I will find some form of fear driving these unpleasant characteristics or behaviors. When these parts of my personality flare up they are driven by fear and I can not remove this with any amount of self; however, it is possible for me to rely on a Power greater than myself to remove fear. I need to ask for help and it is dispensed in ways I couldn’t specifically ask for on my own but are exactly what I need. This demonstration of faith and reliance upon that Power greater than myself is a concrete act of humility. From this position of humility the road is clear to continue into gratitude based action………….
